Actor JP Reddy, also known as JP, is all set to present a story that he believes will resonate with anyone who has moved from a village to the city in pursuit of better education. The film, Karki, marks the debut of Tamil director Pavitran in Kannada cinema. Expressing his thoughts on the upcoming release, JP shares, “Through this story, we delve into various compelling themes such as caste dynamics and the fundamental right to education.” However, stepping into the character was no simple feat, as the actor candidly reveals, “When I first heard the narrative from director Pavitran, I had my doubts about fitting into this role. Being brought up in the city, adapting my entire demeanor to embody a local boy was quite challenging. I shed 6 kilograms by altering my workout routine and diet, and wore just four shirts sourced from Gurjari market in Shivajinagar during the entire filming process. My appearance and mannerisms had to undergo significant changes. But as actors, it is our responsibility to fully inhabit the roles we play. If we cannot achieve that, then maybe we should not pursue acting at all. One cannot effectively portray a character without fully embracing it,” explains JP.
